Are you looking for a smaller winery with a great view and are looking to learn more about the wine making process. Then we recommend Windcrest, its a hidden treasure right off Raymond Rd. Windcrest does an excellent job at taking the time to educate, and explain each specific wine this vineyard has to offer.
In addition to education Windcrest can offer Tours, Tastings, and Bottle Sales. Tours will vary depending on harvesting season (late August to Sept)
Windcrest began in 1998, when they planted their first vine. They carefully selected grape varieties and clones which are best suited for Nebraska soil. DeChaunac, Edelweiss, Frontenac, LaCrosse, Petit Amie, St. Peppin, St. Vincent and Vignoles were chosen. In addition to the grape varieties, Windcrest also planted an orchard producing cherries and pears that they then crafted into wines.
Until 2007, Windcrest owners made their living selling fruit to a neighboring winery. Not satisfied with just growing premium grapes, they decided to put their fruit into their own bottles. In 2008, they were officially known as WindCrest Winery.
